11. Myrrh Oil
One of the good essential oils for treating swollen gums is myrrh oil. Terpenoids found in this oil have the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Besides that, myrrh also contains many other compounds that are good for treating many problems related to teeth and gums. Let’s see how to treat swollen gums with myrrh oil:
Firstly, you need to have 1 to 4 drops of myrrh oil and 1 tablespoon of water or carrier oil like olive oil or coconut oil. Now you simply need to mix myrrh oil with water or the carrier oil and place it in your mouth. Swish it gently around in your mouth and pull it through your teeth. This solution can be done about 5 to 10 minutes. After swishing, you brush your teeth. Do it again 2 or 3 times a day until your swollen gums is better.
Along with mustard oil and myrrh oil, there are many other oils are also one of the great choices among home remedies for swollen gums around tooth. Some common oils can be used for treating swollen gums are peppermint, lemon, cinnamon, thyme, eucalyptus, rosemary, clove, lavender, chamomile, and tea tree oil. You need 2 drops of each oil are clove oil, oregano oil and 2 tablespoons of coconut oil or other carrier oil that available. With this recipe, you simply mix all the oils together and use it to swish in your mouth for 5 to 10 minutes. Then spit it out and repeat it 3 times a day to get the desired result.
Alternatively you can add some drops of tea tree oil in your toothpaste and brush your teeth daily. This is also an effective way to treat swollen gums.
Or tea tree oil can be mixed with a glass of warm water and used as a mouthwash. Use it twice a day. Your swollen gums will be better. However, you shouldn’t swallow this liquid because it may cause stomach problems.
13. Ajwain Carom Seeds
Ajwain carom is known as an anti-inflammatory agent. Thymol is found in the oil of these seeds also has antifungal, antibacterial and anesthetic properties. That is why these seeds are used for swollen gums.
In order to cure swollen gums, you need 1 to 2 teaspoons of ajwain seeds and a few drops of mustard oil. Now you can dry roast the seeds until it has a nice aroma. Then grind them into powder. You mix the ajwain powder with mustard oil to get a consistent paste. Use this paste to apply on your affected area.
Another option is to use ajwain oil to treat swollen gums. With this solution, you only need to add a few drops of ajwain oil to a glass of water and take it to rinse your mouth for about 2 minutes.
14. Castor Seeds Or Oil
With its antibacterial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antiviral properties, castor oil or castor seeds are one of the excellent home remedies for swollen gums around tooth. Moreover, it is also helpful for boosting the lymphatic system. Using castor oil can help boost the lymphocyte count, the disease-fighting cells and increase the process of eliminating the toxins out of your tissues. Since then swelling is reduced and healing is promoted.
With castor seeds oil, you can cure swollen gums by mixing castor seed oil with camphor powder to get a paste. Then you can use this paste to apply on the affected area and rubs gently for a few minutes. This solution can be applied twice a day – in the morning and evening.
In case camphor is not available, rubbing the castor oil on your affected area for a few minutes is impossible.
15. Henna Leaves
Henna or Lawsonia Inermis or Hina is also very useful for swollen gums. It can be widely applied in body art and hair dye. In addition, henna can help reduce irritation and swelling thanks to its cooling effect. If you want to use Lawsonia Inermis leaves, you can do as follow:
Boil the leaves in a glass of water for about 10 to 15 minutes. Strain and let the liquid cool. And then use the liquid to gargle twice a day. You can rinse your mouth using it after your meals and before going to bed. It will help you treat the common symptoms of swollen gums effectively.
