Top 14 Natural Home Remedies for Colon Cleansing Detox

Updated: 12/04/2019

Why is it necessary to know about natural home remedies for colon cleansing and detoxification? The colon is a very important part of the body. It is responsible for extracting water, vitamins, salt, and nutrients from food, processing food which is not digested in the small intestine, and eliminating solid waste from the body. However, when there is a disturbance in the colon, we cannot properly eliminate our toxins, and may even re-absorb some of them back into our systems. That may cause problems such as bloating, headache, constipation, weight gain, chronic illness, and fatigue. Cleansing the colon can help you to properly eliminate toxins, promote healthy intestinal bacteria, increase energy and improve the absorption of vitamins or nutrients.

This article will present to you some wonderful natural remedies that you can consider and try at home for colon cleansing.

Top 14 Natural Home Remedies For Colon Cleansing and Detoxification

Foods And Vegetables

1. Foods Rich In Fiber

Fiber plays a significant role in efficient stool formation. Consuming foods rich in fiber may help remove harmful toxins and waste products out of your colon. These foods may also prevent intestinal problems like constipation and inflammation[1]. Moreover, a high-fiber diet has been linked to a reduced risk of developing hemorrhoids and small pouches in the colon, and can be protective against developing colorectal cancer. Furthermore, fiber has the ability to control blood sugar levels in patients with diabetes.[2]

There are two types of fiber: Soluble fiber, which dissolves in water, and insoluble fiber, which doesn't dissolve in water. Soluble fiber may aid in reducing blood cholesterol and blood sugar levels. Beans, lentils, carrots, apples, citrus fruits, psyllium and sweet potatoes are good sources of soluble fiber. Insoluble fiber can improve the movement of material through the digestive tract and increase stool bulk. Foods high in insoluble fiber are whole-wheat flour, wheat bran, nuts, beans, cauliflower and potato.

2. Fermented Foods

Fermented foods, also known as probiotic-rich foods, and are produced by the action of microorganisms. Probiotic-rich foods may enhance the growth of good bacteria in the digestive tract which supports a strong and healthy system[3]. Moreover, several studies have demonstrated the effectiveness of probiotics in the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome, a common digestive disorder[4][5]. Additionally, researchers found out that probiotics have beneficial effects on the prevention and treatment of respiratory tract infections in children[6]. Probiotics may also have positive effects on mental health in both animals and humans[7].
