What Is Oregano Oil?

Oregano Oil is considered by many to be Mother Nature's most potent decontaminate.

It's probably most famous in its culinary use by the Mediterranean cultures. Its taste can be described as hearty and assertive with a peppery bite, and blends well with garlic and sauces in dips. Sun exposure intensifies its flavor, and varieties can be found from Greece (more moderate) to Mexico (spicy).

Oregano, a member of the mint family, has special uses in plant medicine. Its name means "joy of the mountains", and for centuries it has been found growing on mountain-sides under the sun. The ancient Greeks used to crown newlyweds with wreaths of the herb, and adorn graves with sprigs.

Two key compounds found in it are carvacrol and thymol, which are thought to be responsible for Oil of Oregano's potent qualities. And it's a superior purifier for many uses:

Skin Eruptions: It's been said that diluted Oregano Oil – a drop of oil mixed with olive or other oil – can be applied topically to many skin irritations.
Reduced sinus and respiratory congestion: Many people report that drinking Oil of Oregano, or adding a few drops to a vaporizer, significantly help soothe blocked sinuses.
Digestion: For mild indigestion, some individuals say that drinking a glass of milk with a few drops of Oregano Oil can help ease discomfort.
Household: A common recipe for a natural household cleanser is to add the oil to water and use as a spray to prevent or eliminate mold, mildew, fungus and airborne germs.

Sore Throats: To help keep sore throats from worsening, a popular remedy seems to be drinking a few drops of oil in juice or water until it subsides. Its cooling, slightly anesthetic properties
Aside from being one of the most powerful preventative ingredients made by Nature, Oregano has 42 times more antioxidant activity than apples, 30 times more than potatoes, 12 times more than oranges and 4 times more than blueberries. And now it's available in a convenient and potent extract for you to try!

I am not quite sure if it's also the so-called Oil of Oregano or Oregano Oil. I just want to know how to extract the oil from the oregano. Is it possible to extract oil from Oregano without using any 'carrier' oil? Procedures please. Thank you in advance!

Oregano has no significant quantity of oil. Anything labelled "Oreganao Oil" is an oil infused with oregano.

Oregano oil has natural compounds like carvacrol, thymol, menthol and dozens of others that are responsible for the pungency and medicinal effects of oreganol. I use it when I'm sick since it has proven anti-microbial properties. It's a type of mint. I usually try not to exceed 5 drops a day out of those tiny essential oil bottles when I'm ill. How much is too much though?
